College life happens in fragments: a group chat here, a poster there, a story you catch too late. Bounce already helped students find events, RSVP, and manage tickets. But the product stopped at the door.
The opportunity was bigger than improving event discovery. It was extending the product across the entire event lifecycle: before, during, and after.
Bounce's CEO, came to us with a clear challenge: how do we get students to participate, not just show up, and keep that energy going beyond the event itself?
That became the principle behind the product: Instead of treating engagement as a collection of features, we designed around three distinct moments in the experience: anticipation, participation, and memory.
Engagement starts before the event, with knowing what’s happening, and what you might be missing. We split the home experience into two feeds: Friends, showing what your circle is doing, and Campus, surfacing what’s happening across the wider community.
Seeing friends at a party you skipped or discovering a packed event you didn’t know about turns passive browsing into social context, creating a reason to stay connected and come back.
The live interaction layer
Bouncing is the in-event experience that keeps students engaged while they're actually at the event. It has two parts:
Bucket List lets hosts create event-specific goals, from taking a photo with the DJ to meeting new people, that guests complete throughout the night.
Challenges bring live trivia, polls, and quizzes into the event, rewarding participation with points.
Together, they turn Bounce from something students use to get into an event into something that becomes part of the event itself.
After: Make the experience live longer
Events end. Their social value shouldn't.
The Time Capsule brings photos, stories, and highlights from the event together into a shared recap, turning what happened last night into something students can revisit and share the next day.
The result was that we transformed Bounce from an event utility into a product built around the full social lifecycle. Discovery creates anticipation. Live interaction turns attendance into participation. Shared memories extend the experience afterward , and create momentum for whatever happens next.
Bounce doesn’t just help to find where to go. It gives a reason to participate while you’re there, and come back after it’s over.
